Our Education Must be Reinvented
Why learning is just boring? Is it because our less motivation when learning it? Most students will say that it is caused by the teacher. However, the teacher can do nothing because they are trapped by the education system. It is the education system that determines a country’s education. Finland, the country with the best education system in the world, has designed an impressive education system with high qualification for teachers, close relationship between the teacher and the student, less assignment, and many more. So, reforming our education system is all we need to turn learning into something fun and exciting.
Many scientists have shown that each person was totally born different. They have different mind, different personality, different dream, different needs, and of course different gift. They are special in their own way. Then, there must be a good education system with great curriculum to overcome these differences. An education system that will match the differences between students so that the way of the teaching will follow that difference. Also, we need a great curriculum which is a curriculum that will fit any student with any kind of gift and interest. It is terrible if the curriculum only fits science students because not all students are gifted in science.
School must understand their students more than just their name. School must know what their student wishes, needs, and their dreams so that school can hone students better. Subjects in school must also be assigned to students in the proper way. Every subject is important and must have an equal chance. Science is important, but no more important than art or dance. Thus, school must give a fair subject in curriculum for any student’s gift.
Nowadays, subjects’ grade for a student is no longer relevant for showing how smart the students are. School should not give a grade with just an A or a B. It is just like giving grades for a product in a factory. This also may stress students so they will think that the main thing is the grade, instead the lessons they have learned. They will try every possible way, whether it is a right way or not, just to get an A. Therefore, students’ progress report should tell how serious the student in the class, how great skill they have been mastered, how sweet their behaviour, how good their collaboration with friends, and stuff like that. As a result, the student and their parents will know their “really progress” than just an alphabetical report.
Beside the system, teacher takes an important role too in making education exiting. A good education system is nothing without a great teacher. This great hero must have a good qualification, and this is not about their degree. This is about the way they can touch students and make them love learning. Great teachers have to become every student role model with their good behaviour and attitude, instead a celebgram or tiktokers. They also must have a close relationship with the student as close as they can so they can touch students with a touch of affection. It is very important because whenever students love their teacher, they will open themselves up for the teacher.
Finally, when we compare the classroom 150 years ago with now, we can see nothing is different. We go to school, sit in rows, listen to the lectures all day long, and raise hand when we want to ask. It is same as what we do now. Why can Facebook pages, cars, and fashion change, but not education? Even though students are only a small part of our society, but they are totally our only future. I think it is the time we start changing the world. We can start by inventing an extraordinary education style for our better future.
